The Wilderness Passages Magazine Submissions Information Page

The Wilderness Passages Magazine is currently taking submissions of stories about your trips to the Northwoods of Quetico and The Boundary Waters or any other wilderness area in the United States and Canada.  There are guidelines that we must adhere to in order for each issue to be a success.  Following are the requirements necessary in order for us to consider your project for entry.  Please read this entire page before submitting your work.

Stories:     All entries may be submitted via email to submissions@wildernesspassages.com or mailed to:

• Emails:     Submissions sent via email should include any photos (if any) and written information in the body of the email or by attachment in the form of a WORD document or in NOTEPAD.  Articles may be a maximum of 3500 words and all entries are subject to editing for grammar by The Wilderness Passages Staff.  Once received, accepted, and edited; your project will be returned to you for final viewing and approval before publication.

Photos:      Photography can certainly add texture to any story.  A maximum of 20 photos may be included per story, of which we will choose the perfect set to follow your storyline.   Each photo should include a description of its' contents including names of anyone appearing in the photo*, the date and location photographed, and any other pertinent information.  The formatting of your photographs is extremely critical.  Minimum pixel ratios should be 2300 pixels with the highest quality possible and should be in the form of TIFF, JPEG, or BITMAP only.  No hard copies please.

Commentaries:     There are plenty of hot issues that are up for debate.  The Wilderness Passage Magazine will include a section for everyone to express their personal opinions of these hot topics.  A maximum submission of 1500 words is allowed and all commentaries are subject to Web Discussion in future use on The Wilderness Passage Website.  Any photos included in your Commentary should following the same above guidelines described.

Videos:     Photographic Slide Shows and Videos must be mailed on CD to the above provided address and must be editible so that audio** may be added or the video may be shortened in the case of available spacing.  All video must be provided in Windows Media (AVI) or Quicktime form only.    If a Slide Show (still shots put on video) is your submission, it is required that you provide the individual photography in a separate folder on the CD in the same format as listed above (TIFF, JPEG, BITMAP).  Video length should not exceed 20 minutes. 

Advertising:     The Wilderness Passage, like all magazines, will include advertising for On-Topic merchants only.  Ads may be purchased through this website or by contacting us via email at qp@wildernesspassages.com .

* Permission to use Photos requires us to obtain a release from every individual appearing in every photo or video provided requiring the name and address of each individual appearing in submitted photos or videos.  If requested, we will provide the entrant with the proper release forms for signature and return to The Wilderness Passages /Quetico Passage LLC.

**Audio - The Wilderness Passages and Quetico Passage LLC may add our own music to any video so as not to infringe any copywrite laws protecting releases made by any authority.

By submission of a Story, Photo, Commentary or Video the provider agrees to this Wilderness Passage Submission Information Page only.  Once your project is received, accepted and edited it will be returned to you accompanied by the release forms allowing us to publish your work.
